Elgin crashed 4-1 at home to East Kilbride in the Premier Sports Cup.
The Black and Whites got off to a poor start when Jack Leitch curled the ball home from inside the box inside two minutes.
The EK captain added a second in the 21st minute with the Elgin defence looking exposed again.
Tom Ritchie made two good saves to deny the visitors more goals before the break.
Elgin got a lifeline when Lewis Hyde was brought down by Freddie Owens and Jack MacIver slotted the penalty kick past the keeper, who was booked for his challenge.

City started the second half brightly and Kane Hester was through on goal but dragged his shot wide.
Miko Virtanen also spurned a great chance to level as City looked more like themselves.
Those misses came back to haunt Elgin when Nathan Flanagan made it 3-1 with a simple tap in and John Robertson rubbed salt in the wounds with a fourth.
