A great start for the women, a tight first half saw the teams go in 2-1 with Elgin up at the break, although Elgin did hit the woodwork 3 times in the first half also which could have increased the gap.
Lily Morrison had the honour of scoring our first ever goal in the SWF 1 after 13 mins, and Carly Sewell with a powerful header from a corner just before half-time settled the nerves after Inverurie took control after equalising after 31 mins through Louise Proctor.
In the second half they found their rhythm and totally dominated the game, with hot-shot Mia Lundberg netting two more as they pushed forward for more goals.
Sarah Westwood had maybe her best game ever in the Black & White and deservedly got the Qismat Player of the Match award.
A great team effort with some free flowing football, this has certainly been a great start, but there is a long way to go, Interim Manager, Lee Stewart will keep the players feet firmly on the ground.
We all at Elgin City FC Women wish a speedy recovery to Inverurie player, Kayleigh Traynor who broke her collar bone yesterday.
