We are delighted to announce that four of our academy players have signed their first professional contracts with the club, marking a major milestone in their footballing journeys.

Their individual paths may differ, but each of them have earned this opportunity through talent, commitment, and perseverance. Three of the four — Cole, Daniel, and Liam — are local Elgin lads, which makes this announcement even more meaningful for the community and the club.

Cole and Daniel have been part of the academy since the age of five and six, developing through every stage of the youth pathway. Liam also began his footballing journey with us before spending time at Aberdeen FC and we were delighted to welcome him back to the academy last season.

Sam, meanwhile, joined the academy earlier this year after leaving Aberdeen FC. When we were made aware of his availability, we were very keen to bring him in. From his initial trial period in March, it was clear he had the quality to make an impact — not just in our U19s for this coming season, but as a long-term prospect for the club. His attitude and ability have only reinforced that decision.

Speaking on the announcement, Head of Youth Development Darren Main said:

“We’re incredibly proud to see these four young talents take the next step in their journey by signing professional contracts with the club. It’s a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the support they’ve received from everyone across the academy.

These signings are another success story for the academy and provide an encouraging boost for everyone involved – one that has been made possible thanks to the backing and belief of the Chairman and the board in the academy’s long-term vision. They serve as a powerful reminder to all our academy players that the pathway is real and the possibilities are there for those who work hard, stay committed, and continue to develop both on and off the pitch.

I also want to recognise the contribution of the many coaches — past and present — who have played a vital role in shaping these players during their time with us. Each of them has helped lay the foundations for this moment, and their work deserves to be celebrated.

I’d also like to extend a sincere thanks to the Gaffer (Allan Hale) for his support of the academy and his willingness to give young players a genuine opportunity. His belief in developing homegrown talent makes a real difference and sends a powerful message to everyone coming through our system.

We’re excited to see these young men continue their journey and take their opportunity at senior level.”

First team manager Allan Hale said: “I’m absolutely delighted for the four lads — they’ve earned this opportunity through their attitude, application, and consistent hard work.

Credit must go to Darren Main for the excellent work he has done since taking on the role of Head of Youth Development, along with all of the coaches who have contributed to the players’ progression over the years.

I’d also like to acknowledge the board for their continued backing of the shared vision we’ve implemented – one that places genuine emphasis on creating a clear and achievable pathway from the academy to the first team.”

Chairman Alan Murray added “This announcement underlines the club’s ongoing commitment to developing homegrown talent and creating a clear pathway from the academy to the first team. As they take this next step, the club remains fully focused on providing each player with the support and guidance they need — on and off the pitch — to continue their development and thrive in a senior environment”
