Match Report
Elgin City got off the worst possible start, conceding two goals inside the opening seven minutes.
Former Edinburgh City and Dunfermline Athletic striker Connor Young did the damage both times, exposing fragility in the City defence and finishing superbly.
The Black and Whites could not cope with East Kilbride’s movement and quick passing, and were opened up numerous times.
Nathan Flanagan curled in a third goal just past the half hour mark, with the City defence guilty of giving him too much time and space to cut in from right and finish.
It could have been more and Elgin rarely threatened, Jack Murray going close with a header from a free kick and captain Russell Dingwall firing in a shot which was comfortably saved by Freddie Owens.
Allan Hale made four changes at the break to try and halt the direction of the game.
The second half was more even but East Kilbride had chances to extend their lead.
Sub Josh Walker forced a good save from Freddie Owens.
At the other end Tom Ritchie pulled off a great stop to deny Young his hat-trick.
And the striker came even closer when he was through on goal but hit the post.
This was the third meeting of the teams this season and EK have won them all.
